I’d like to tell you a story:
Born in Los Angeles, CA to immigrant parents, I learned early on how important relationships are. After escaping Laos during the Vietnam War, my parents started over with nothing here in California. But what could not be taken away was their work ethic and their family values. How my parents interacted with people appeared to me like they knew everyone. But what they focused on was treating people right and giving whenever they can.
I have taken that into my career in different capacities. Working at Coastal Payroll, I was able to help business owners and C-Suite executives streamline their payroll and HR processes while also connecting resources to help them scale. I also give by getting involved with the community and support causes like the Surfrider Foundation, Wounded Warriors and Rady’s Children Hospital.
Growing up, my family and I did not have the luxury of having access to healthcare. We didn’t have regular doctor visits, routine checkups, or preventative care. And with medical expenses being the number 1 reason people file for bankruptcy, I had a deep desire to help individuals and their families get access to quality healthcare through a company sponsored plan.
During my time in payroll, many clients I worked with needed help attracting and retaining talent. I would utilize resources to help them create employee benefits for their team. However, I saw that employees did not understand their options and would sometimes elect a plan that did not suit their needs. I had the same experience as an employee, self-selecting a plan that did not suit my needs.
Culture Insurance’s first core value is “Love Others”. While there are many organizations out there that do what we do, our philosophy on serving people is what sets us apart. What clients appreciate about Culture Insurance is the level of support (like having a benefits administrator in house) that we provide to small and medium sized businesses. At Culture, I have the opportunity to help companies by serving the people that work for them. Understanding their employees’ needs and educating them on resources they have helps in minimizing the financial burden of medical expenses and creates a workplace that attracts talent, two things I have set out to do.
My purpose is to help people and businesses reach their potential by connecting them with the right resources and support to become successful.
